Welcome to the new Reading Bridge Club website.

The club is based near the centre of Reading and meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (7:15 start). Visitors are welcomed. The contact details and instructions how to reach the club can be found on this page. Partners can be arranged through evening organisers.

The Reading Bridge Club is one of the best (and oldest) provincial bridge clubs in the British Isles. The membership includes many top class players. Teaching is available to the newcomers to the game as well as to the improvers.

Latest scores

I have now installed Scorebridge on the club scoring computer and it seems to work OK.

I therefore propose that from September 1st we will switch over and use Scorebridge for normal scoring of club events. I will have by Tuesday a User's "How To" document (for Tim who is to be the guinea pig) though in general it is fairly easy to use. I am planning on playing in the first 2 Thursday sessions on Sept 3rd and 10th as well as on most Tuesdays as usual in case there are any difficulties which crop up.

From then also Master Points will be directly credited to the EBU so you may all like to collect all your outstanding MP slips from the boxes on the mantlepiece and make a final submission of these to ensure your record is accurate and up to date. If anyone has joined the EBU in the last few months and fears that I do not have their EBU number then please email it to me at

The results from Scorebridge will be loaded to the "New" web site

http://www.bridgewebs.com/reading

The "New" web site address may change in the near future to something similar to the current name but you will be advised of that when it happens.

The up to date positions for the Brown and Boucher Cups will be available on the Bridgewebs website and will be automatically updated with the results from each qualifying session. From December 1st the same will be true for the Presidents and Francis Cups. I have not yet been able to provide a method to automatically update the handicap competitions for the Laycock and Bilbey Cups.

Parking at the Register Office

Recently we received a call from Peter Robson at the Register Office.  He had two concerns.  The first was that members who park in front of the building, outside the designated bays, interfere with their recently installed security lighting system.  The second was that there has been parking in the entrance to the Register Office, although this may not be by members.

In view of the above   Please park ONLY in the designated bays, if possible, in those in the front of the building and ,if not possible, in those at the back of the building.  The importance of maintaining good relations with the Register Office can not be overemphasised.
