750: An unusual score?
As 750 can be scored for 3N/5C/5D doubled and vulnerable, 5H/5S doubled making twelve non-vul, and 3N doubled making eleven non-vul, it is not that unusual.
But how about this curiosity from the club duplicate at Reading on 19 April 2005, on which 750 was recorded in each of the four suits. 5H and 5S doubled by West were allowed to make twelve on diamond leads from North. 5D doubled was made by North and by South.
My own 5C doubled by North had a chance when East led a heart, and was let through when, after two rounds of trumps, East took his diamond ace on the first round to return a spade. Top score went to the pair lucky enough to be doubled in four spades, also making twelve, for 790.
